Numbers and demography

Founded in the "Second Life, official guide" french edition 2006. Extracted from a poll in the official forum

Men playing as a Men, 41.95%
Women playing as a Women, 40.05%
Men playing as a Women, 14.45%
Women playing as a Men, 3.55%

which would bring us with :
54.50 % Women Avatars and 45.50 % Men Avatars.

It sounds quite odd, or maybe it is just because I dwell in some specific places more womanly oriented, but my overall impression is that their is more than 54.50% Women Avies.

Some where else in the book, 18.??% men confess to have started their second life as a women.

And finaly, to quote an acquaintance inside SL : "it is more 34.45% than 14.45% men playing as a women". If he is right, it leads us to this demographique repartition. 74.50% women avies, and 25.50% men avies.

Odd, but this proportions sounds just like more accurate to me.

He roughly also said in the same stance "If the avatar is men so be it a men, and if it is a women avatar so it is women" what he Mean't is from a Role Playing point of view. I do uttery suscribe to this point of view. that no matter who is behind the keyboard, inside SL, what matters is the avatar. Of course, the 1st Life operator is important, but since SL is about R.P. the avatar becomes the true self while logged in.

First day ever

Somewhere close to the end of the year 2006 I have done my first steps inside SL2. That very first experience was awfull. Laggy, lack of ressources from my side, ugly avatars, not knowing what to do. I may say I was defenitaly not ready for Second Life at that time, and as such, closed the connection and bail out of it.
Yet, not knowing why, I didn't took out the game client from my putter :)
